“Wooh wooh!”
“Clap clap!”
“Scratch scratch!”
“Boom boom!”
“Bop bop!”
“Whoosh whoosh!”
“Toot toot!”
The animals in the crowd danced happily to the music. Rootsi was the rock star of the Arctic. When the song was over, the other bears looked at Rootsi like he was their hero.
Buck’s mouth hung open. “Little bear,” Buck said, “what was that?”
“That,” Rootsi answered, “that was my roar. And it’s the only roar I’d ever want.”
Rootsi smiled and turned to his friends. The birds and the bears and the foxes and the walruses all gathered around Rootsi. They slapped his hand and patted his back and hugged him tight. And at that moment, surrounded by his great new friends, Rootsi didn’t feel small. Rootsi felt like the biggest bear in the whole wide world.
